Budget

TP-Link Tapo P100

Anyone who simply wants to put a lamp or appliance on a schedule or voice control without buying a hub.

  • Compact body leaves the neighbouring socket free
  • Sets up through the Tapo app with no hub
  • Away mode switches things on and off to make the home look occupied

Watch out for: Voice control is listed for Alexa and Google Assistant only, so Apple Home users should look at a Matter model instead.

No
Works with
Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant
Connection
2.4GHz Wi-Fi

  • Small enough not to block the adjacent socket

Watch out for: The energy figures live in the Tapo app; TP-Link says they are not yet passed through to Matter apps.
