Votes, comments and rules
Every board has votes and a discussion. The votes say what visitors think of a board and of each product on it. The discussion is for people who have bought or used the products to say how they got on.
How votes work
Press the up or down arrow next to a product, or next to "Useful board?" at the top of a board. Press the same arrow again to take your vote back. The number shown is up votes minus down votes.
Votes never change the ranking. A board's order comes from the method in How we score and earn: star ratings weighed by how many people left them. Votes are shown beside that order, not mixed into it, so a crowd cannot push a product up the board and neither can we.
One vote per thing from each internet connection. A household sharing a connection shares a vote.
Comment rules
Comments are read by a person before they appear. We approve comments that are about the products or the board and are honest about your own experience. We do not approve:
- anything illegal, threatening, hateful or harassing, or sexual content
- personal information about anyone, including yourself
- adverts, links to shops, affiliate links or promotion of your own business
- reviews you were paid or given something for, unless you say so clearly
- comments written for a brand, retailer or competitor without saying so
- spam, or the same comment posted more than once
We do not edit comments: each one is approved as written or not at all. We can remove an approved comment later if it breaks these rules.
Voting on comments. You can vote comments up or down too. Once a comment has at least three votes and two thirds or more of them are down, it is hidden and comes back to us to review. If we decide it was fair, we put it back, and votes cannot hide it again.
Illegal content. Anything illegal is not approved, or is taken down as soon as we know about it. Where the law expects it, or someone may be at risk, we report it to the police or the relevant body (for example CEOP for the safety of a child, or Counter Terrorism Policing). Our approach is set out in a written risk assessment, kept under the UK Online Safety Act and reviewed at least once a year.
Reporting a comment
Every comment has a Report link, which opens an email to hello@oneappcompany.com with the comment's number. We look at every report, and remove the comment if it breaks the rules or the law. If you think we got a decision about your own comment wrong, email the same address and we will look again.
What we keep
- When you comment: the name you give, your comment, which board and product it is about, and when you posted it. The name and comment are shown publicly once approved. Rejected comments are never shown and are deleted 90 days after the decision, unless we need to keep one to report it to the police or another body.
- When you vote or comment: a scrambled code made from your internet address with a secret key. It lets us count one vote per connection and stop floods of spam. Your address itself is never stored, and the code cannot be turned back into it without the key.
- On your device: nothing. These pages set no cookies.
To have a comment removed, email hello@oneappcompany.com with the board and the name you used.
